ADT Security Systems: A security systems sales presentation was made by Kathy Barela from ADT. They are offering a $500 credit for install of system. They will do a free analysis, which takes about an hour. Contact Kathy at (505) 795-0387 or kbarela@adt.com

Police Appreciation Bar-b-cue: SHNA has received a request for donations in support or the APD Police Appreciation Bar-b-cue being held on 10/30/15 from noon to 3:00 pm at the Phil Chacon Memorial Sub Station at 800 Louisiana (Louisiana & Kathryn). Craig Wallace: Craig has notified us that he is resigning from the board. We all give our thanks to Craig for the many years of selfless service he has provided to our neighborhood.

Annual Meeting Notification: Tom will print up annual meeting notification flyers, which will need to be delivered 30 days prior to the Jan 11, 2016.

Bus Service on Central: There was a discussion about the plans to modify Central to improve bus service by moving the bus traffic to the center lanes and reducing car traffic to a single lane in both directions. The main issue was why do this on Central which has the best bus service in Albuquerque and only has 2 lanes of traffic. Other streets such as Lomas, Menual, San Mateo, or Louisiana need better bus service and have wider streets (3 Lanes) so the loss of one lane would not be so disruptive to other traffic. SHNA supports public transportation and believe it is critical for a vibrant city but is Central the best route on which to spend our valuable resources?

Integrated Development Ordinance: Meetings to present and discuss Module 1 including new proposed zones, allowed uses, and use specific standards will last 1½ hours and will be held at the following times and locations:

  • Monday 10/19 in the basement of the Plaza del Sol building located at 600 2nd Street NW. The meetings will be held at 11:00am and again at 5:45pm
  • Tuesday 10/20 in the 9th floor Council Committee Room in the City Hall Building. Underground parking will be validated. The meetings will be held at 1:30pm and again at 5:45pm    Attachment 3

Zoning

1512 Gold: The owners of this property are requesting a variance to install a 6’ high metal fence with a motorized gate. As always SHNA will write a letter asking the LUCC Committee to enforce the zoning code. SHNA believes this property is not exceptional and this variance should be denied. This also does not comply with historical overlay. The LUCC meeting is on 11/4/15 in Plaza del Sole and representatives of SHNA will attend. Attachment 4

Parkways and medians on Silver, Gold, Lead and Coal: The SHNA has been working with Councilor Benton to ascertain what is happening to the additional $4.00/month that has been added to our water bills. There is $0.75/month/property that goes to mediums and there are 140K properties that pay this tax. The Clean City Division assumed responsibility for roadside landscaping in July of this year.  The attachment list the professional approach being taken.  Katy will write a letter to Dan Humbles in Clean City Division to thank them for their efforts and SHNA will continue to work closely with them to ensure our parkway and medium landscaping is preserved.   Attachment 5

Attracting New Members: At the November 9th SHNA Board meeting Katy will lead a discussion about attracting new members, engaging them, and retaining them so that the SHNA is able to continue to survive and serve this neighborhood.

Meeting was adjourned: 8:12 pm
