Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART): Katherine Cordova & Joanie Griffin discussed the ART project explaining that even though there are lawsuits pending the City is hoping to start construction in late July or early August. The 14-month construction schedule will be broken down into short segments with work occurring on one side of the street at a time. Parking spaces will be maintained during construction and at least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction. The scheduling of work has been coordinated with the business on Central and is designed to minimize the disruption to them. The construction between Cedar and Stanford is scheduled to start in August. The ART Stops along our Historic District are being re-evaluated with the intent of developing more historically appropriate structures. A surprise to me was that there will be FREE WIFI along the ART route. See the following attachments for more information. Construction Schedule & ART Brochure

The SHNA strongly expressed our concerns about the traffic that will divert from the Central traffic gridlock and will speed through our neighborhood. Jim will write a letter from the SHNA to Joanie and Katherine requesting permanent traffic calming measures be installed on Gold between Yale and Sycamore. Residents on Gold have been complaining for years about the cars racing up and down Gold. Suggestions for traffic calming measures included round-bouts (especially on Gold & Buena Vista), frequent stop signs, severe speed bumps, closing gold where it crosses University (like what was done on Silver), and barricading the North-South Streets at the East/West Alley between central & Gold.

Concerns were expressed about the removal of so many mature trees. Joanie explained these trees had to be removed because they are in the mediums where the buses will be traveling. We then expressed our concern that the Solid Waste Department has proven itself to be incapable of maintain the street-scaping in our neighborhood. The most recent example of their incompetence in our neighborhood is the dead trees and landscaping on University South of Central. And they have only been maintaining them for 1 year. Jim will write a letter from the SHNA to Joanie and Katherine about this concern.

ABC-Z City of Albuquerque & Bernalillo County Collaborative Effort: The ABC Comp Plan Committee has posted their proposed updates and is seeking comments from the public during the month os June. For dates, times, and locations of public meeting see ABC-Z June Schedule

1512 Gold Security: Marina Miletic & Stephen Bond have resubmitted their request for a 6’ high metal fence in front of their property with an remote control gate to secure their property. Their property and other properties in that area have been experiencing lots of thefts. They have videos and pictures of the numerous people involved. They have shared this with APD but the police say there is nothing they can do. This is a difficult situation for the property owners who are trying to protect their tenants and their property and for the SHNA which always requests that the City of Albuquerque enforce the zoning and historic codes as they exist. Jim will set up a meeting with the District Police Captain, himself, Marina, & Stephen. Marina & Stephen will look at the options available to them to secure their property at the building instead of at the street.

Approval of Board Meeting Minutes: The SHNA Board Meeting Minutes for 2/8/16, 3/14/16, and 4/11/16 were reviewed and unanimously approved as corrected.

Neighborhood Association Leadership Training: A Neighborhood Association Leadership Training Class will be held 6/18/16 at Plaza Del Sol Building from 9:00am to Noon. Neighborhood Association Leadership Training Seminar

Meeting Adjourned: 8:42pm
