Prostitution crackdown

Further east on Central Avenue, police conducted a sting and arrested 23 would-be customers of prostitutes on Friday.

Short report here from KRQE.

With this message for folks in the Southeast Heights:

“We had a lot of success,” Sgt. Joe Burke with APD’s Southeast Impact team said. “I know a lot of people in the community don’t view (prostitution) as a serious problem but it is because it does progress into property crimes, automobile burglaries, commercial burglaries, robberies, if they get desperate and that’s what we’re trying to proactively prevent.”

“We cover street level prostitution from every angle so we’re not going to stop we’re going to be out there,” said Sgt. Matt Thompson with the Vice Unit.
